Lance Armstrong Comes Clean to Doping

The other night, I was in bed, looking for something to watch on television.  I know, I know, experts say you shouldn’t have a television in your bedroom, but I find it comforting to watch a little before I go to bed. I was channel surfing when I came across the Lance Armstrong interview on OWN.  I didn’t realize this was the first airing and I am not a huge cycling fan, but something compelled me to watch. It has already been leaked to the media that Armstrong would confess to using performance-enhancing drugs to Oprah, but I wanted to … Continue reading

Manti Te’o and the Girlfriend that Wasn’t – Part 2

So by now, you’ve probably heard all the jokes going around about Manti Te’o and the dead girlfriend hoax.  They are calling it “Te’oing.” When I last blogged, I told you about the tragic story of Te’o’s girlfriend who died last year in the middle of football season of leukemia.  The only thing is she wasn’t real. This week, he and Notre Dame both released statements saying Te’o was the victim of a “sad and very cruel deception.” Now the questions are – who did this and was Te’o in on it?  The “who did it” seems to point to … Continue reading

No Inductees for Baseball’s Hall of Fame

Ah, baseball – it is said it’s America’s favorite past time.  However, this year, there will be no joy in Mudville because for only the second time since 1971, no former Major League Baseball players were inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. It’s not because the ballot wasn’t full of talent.  No, quite the contrary.  Among this year’s nominees were Barry Bonds, the all-time leader in career home runs (with 762).  Roger Clemens, an 11-time All-Star, two-time World Series winner, and 7-time Cy Young Award winner, was also on the ballot. Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were there too.  … Continue reading

The Hits Continue for Lance Armstrong

Oh, it was good to be Lance Armstrong a few years back. Young, athletic, and attractive, Armstrong won the Tour de France, the grueling, yet historic annual multiple stage bicycle race, seven years in a row. Seven. In a row. Heck, even cancer couldn’t beat him. After chemo proved successful, he formed the Lance Armstrong Foundation, now known as the Livestrong Foundation, to help others defeat cancer and live a healthier lifestyle. He dated a rock star (Sheryl Crow from 2003 until 2005) and has fathered five healthy, beautiful children. Yes, it was good to be Lance Armstrong…until now. Armstrong … Continue reading

NFL’s Biggest Blunder?

Now that Osama Bin Laden is dead, who is the most hated man in America? Another terrorist leader? A presidential candidate? The guy that made that terrible film that is creating such tension? Not even close. The most hated man in America is actually two men – two National League Football refs. That’s right. I went to sleep last night and left my husband downstairs watching the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks playing football. I am not really into football, but I couldn’t help but notice something odd had happened in last night’s game when I logged into … Continue reading

Tiger Woods Admits the Obvious

After months of hiding, Tiger Woods decided to give a public statement about his “indiscretions.” Tiger, dressed in a blue button-down shirt and dark blue blazer, held his press conference at the TPC Sawgrass clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach at 11 a.m. ET this morning. With Tiger was his mother Kultida, but not his wife Elin. The crowd of those at the event was reportedly small and handpicked for the carefully controlled environment. The few members of the media that were invited were told they could not ask questions. The majority of reporters were in another area, watching Tiger on … Continue reading

Tiger Woods Involved in Mysterious Car Accident

Golfer Tiger Woods was involved in a minor car crash yesterday morning. While I think everyone was glad to hear the golf legend only suffered minor facial cuts from the wreck, a lot of people are wondering just what happened as the details are sketchy. Tiger’s Cadillac Escalade SUV hit a fire hydrant and his neighbor’s tree as he was leaving his gated $2.4 million dollar home near Orlando, Fla. at 2:25 a.m. Reports are that his wife Elin heard the crash and had to smash the rear window with a golf club to get Tiger out. Police found her … Continue reading

Sting’s 18-year-old daughter is proving that bad things can happen at any time. Coco Sumner is reportedly recovering from what some are calling a “freak accident,” that left her with a fractured skull and other serious injuries. According to reports, the teenage daughter of award-winning singer Sting remains in the intensive care unit at an L.A. hospital after collapsing at an area restaurant last week. Witnesses say Coco was sharing a meal with friends when she took a tumble in the eatery and hit her head on a chair as she fell to the ground. A source tells a British … Continue reading

Swimmer Nick D’Arcy Given a Suspended Sentence for Assault

I missed this story when it was originally published, but 21 year old Australian swimmer Nick D’Arcy just received a suspended sentence for an assault charge. D’Arcy was involved in a brawl on March 31, 2008 with former swimmer Simon Cowley, who had won three gold medals at the Commonwealth Games. That night, D’Arcy was celebrating his place on the Australian Olympic swimming team at a Sydney nightclub. Cowley is said to have slapped the inebriated D’Arcy then a brawl broke out. Cowley may have started it, but he got the worst of it – he ended up with a … Continue reading
