Cinnamon Roll Time!

bread machine cinnamon rolls What if it were so easy to make cinnamon rolls that you could do it in your bread machine? Bread machine cinnamon rolls are so delicious. They are much better than those prepackaged “tube” cinnamon rolls and take little extra effort when you use your bread machine.

This morning, the kids are off of school for a teacher in service day. They had a late night, too, so I am hoping that they will sleep in a bit. I know however, that the aroma of the cinnamon rolls I am baking will probably wake them.

We will be having a little morning celebration today. Last night, my eldest child sang in a concert of the best of the best chorus singers from the entire school district. The kids all did wonderfully, and were better than anything you might hear on Glee.

It calls for cinnamon rolls.

This recipe is one that I adapted from a couple of different sources and adjusted for best results. It is important to note that I usually use regular flour not bread flour. You can use either. Bread flour will give you a softer dough that bakes up with a more bread-like texture.

The dough ingredients go in the bread machine in whichever order your machine recommends (usually wet first, then dry then yeast).

Dough:

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons warm milk

3 tablespoons canola oil

1 egg, lightly beaten plus 2 egg whites

1/2 cup sugar

5 cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

3 teaspoons bread machine yeast

Filling

4 tablespoons butter, melted

1-1/3 cup brown sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Icing

4 teaspoon milk

1-1/2 cups confectioners sugar
4 tablespoons butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla

While the dough is in the bread machine, mix up the filling. After the dough cycle is finished, roll the dough into a large rectangle on your counter. Spread the dough with the melted butter and then the sugar and cinnamon mixture.

Roll up and cut the dough into rolls and place them in two greased round cake pans. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes or until they are nicely browned. Spread the icing on the rolls while they are hot.

You can also freeze and reheat these rolls, which I often do!
