Coupons and Free Food – Where in the World?

The free food just keeps on coming!

Sonic’s free float night is June 3, from 8 pm to closing. They will give you a free 10 oz Rootbeer Float. Today, Saturday, May 30, from 11-4 participating Walmart stores will give away free ice cream treats. Check out the participating stores by zip code.

Personally I look at these free food giveaways as a nice diversion when I am doing my shopping. It’s also an incentive – you can bet that the part of my grocery shopping that is best done at Walmart will be today from 11-4!

This is really a great strategy for Walmart. Their super centers have been a major player in the discount grocery arena. Walmart is one place where you truly do save on produce, if you do not mind the fact that it is often not locally grown. Getting you to stop by for ice cream while you do your shopping means that you aren’t doing your shopping anywhere else. They have some great savings on electronics and other items as well. Macy’s used to have a slogan “It’s a part of your life”. For many of us, Walmart is more a part of our daily lives than Macy’s or other department stores.

Krispy Kreme is celebrating National Doughnut Day on June 5th. They will give away one doughnut per person. Not all stores are participating, so check yours to be sure.

Print a buy 1 get 1 free coupon for Baskin Robbins.

Coupons are back in the Sunday paper this weekend. Here is a preview of what you will see. There is a SmartSource insert, and a RedPlum insert.

Families.com has an international following. I’d like to know from our members in Canada, Australia, and the UK if your newspapers carry anything similiar to the coupon inserts we have in the USA on a regular basis. SmartSource, RedPlum, and Proctor and Gamble are regularly featured in glossy inserts within many major newspapers here, and deal hunters look to see what coupons will be featured on what dates.

Are you seeing the free food giveaways outside the USA that we are seeing here with fast food and restaurant chains?

Also, are you able to use printable coupons from sites such as coupons.com, boodle.com, bettycrocker.com? What are the sites you visit for printable grocery coupons outside the USA? And finally….

Has anyone ever seen a printable internet coupon for vegemite? I think it would be interesting to share links for printable coupons available outside the USA for products that are unique to particular parts of the world. So shoot me a comment, or a private message – I’d love to find out more about this and compare how coupons are used in the USA with how they are used across the world.
