Creating the Quote Request Letter: Cover Page

Welcome, to my personal insurance Review and Update! So far I have worked out the details of our Personal Assets and gathered all the relevant paperwork, and have all the current insurance policies, details, appraisals and other documentation.

I won’t actually need most of this paperwork to start the Quoting process, but want to have the chance to review everything and have the papers all in one spot if we do decide to change our insurance carrier. It’s not uncommon especially for Auto Insurance to be asked to provide proof of prior coverage. I also have my household inventory completed and double checked our Credit Report and Driving records. So, I’m set to go?

Not exactly!

I want to be sure when I contact insurance agencies that they all give me quotes for the same coverage, same limits, and same deductibles. There is little point in comparing apples and oranges so, before starting it’s a good idea for me to outline these things.

I’m also not in the mood to play the telephone tag game, or keep an agent waiting on the phone while trying to give me a quote. My preference is to make an easy to understand document and FAX it to the different Insurance Agencies I want to give me quotes. It just saves time for everyone.

With all the information I have gathered up, there is no reason I won’t be able to obtain accurate quotes, without needing to answer too many questions from the agent. All I need to do it put it in a readable format and wait for the quotes to come in.

On the first page of my FAX I am going to offer the usual information, names, addresses, phone and outline our general situation and request.

My FAX–letter will start something like this:

Dear Insurance Agent:

Please find the attached information about our personal assets, personal property and other insurable interests.

Currently, our insurance is with the XYZ Insurance Company and we would like to have our portfolio quoted to see if there is may be better insurance products to meet our insurance needs.

If you are able to offer a competitive insurance quote to cover all of our insurance needs please feel free to mail or fax the quotes for our review. If we decide your quote is the best choice for our insurance business we will contact you to make an appointment.

Sincerely,
Anna

In the next Blog I will outline exactly what information to provide for our Auto and Home insurance quotes.
