Dinner Discussions 2008 Week 24

This week�s dinner discussions focus on lesson twenty four in the manuals. The Primary children are a week behind. Since the 4th of July is coming up, you may want to talk about the founding of our country and how it has benefited us. If you are not from the United States, you may want to begin talking about the pioneers or talk about pioneers from your country.

If you have a child in Nursery or Sunbeams he learned that he belongs to a family. The lesson talked about the importance of families, and how they can help to protect us. The lesson also reviewed the story of the Nativity and taught the children that Jesus was born in a family. The children also discussed how to treat their family members with love or respect. You may want to discuss how much you love your family.

If you have a child between the ages of four and seven she learned about the story of the lost sheep. The lesson discussed how much Jesus cares about each one of us. It talked about how Jesus wants us all to return to be with him. You may want to talk about reaching out to others.

If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven he learned about Alma teaching his sons Helaman and Shiblon. The lesson focused on the importance of keeping the commandments and making righteous choices. It also talked about the importance of the Book of Mormon. The suggested reading is Alma 37:33-47 and Alma 38:1-12.

If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen the lesson discussed self mastery. The students discussed the importance of setting goals and following through with them. They also discussed replacing bad habits with good ones. The lesson discussed the importance of turning to the Lord for help.

For all members over the age of fourteen the lesson was about Alma 13-16. The lesson discussed the priesthood. It also discussed how the saints were persecuted by the people of Ammonihah. It then discussed the Lord rescuing Alma and Amulek and the healing of Zeezrom. Finally the lesson talked about Ammonihah being destroyed by the Lamanites. Next week�s reading is Alma 17-22.

The young women learned about agency. The young men learned about following the prophet. The Priesthood and Relief Society lessons were taught by your bishopric this month. Next week�s lessons will be determined by your individual presidency.
