Disney Weddings: The Basics

As one of my best friends prepares for her upcoming wedding, I am reminded that many people are beginning to plan their own weddings for the year. One of the most coveted wedding experiences is having the complete fairy tale wedding at the Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort.

First things first: It’s virtually impossible to completely cover the Disney Wedding experience in just one article, so over the next two months, I will be covering just about everything Disney Wedding from intimate ceremonies to elaborate ceremonies amidst Cinderella Castle to honeymooning at Disney, or as some like to call it, DisneyMooning.

Disney Weddings, appropriately titled, “Fairy Tale Weddings”, are available at both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. Which destination you choose will likely depend on your proximity to the location and/or what exactly your personal wishes are for your own wedding. Obviously, you’re going to have a larger selection of locales with the Walt Disney World Resort, but both resorts provide beautiful settings for a complete wedding.

Within the Disneyland Resort, you can have your ceremony at either the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Floridian Hotel, or under the stars at Sleeping Beauty’s castle. Each location offers a different setting and a different ambiance, so if you’d rather have a sunrise wedding or a nightly wedding, you can see your needs met completely within a beautiful setting.

Of course, with four theme parks and numerous resorts, the Walt Disney World Resort does offer many more options for choosing a specific location for your ceremony. You can also choose between an intimate wedding setting with 10 or less guests, a custom wedding with 10 or more guests, or a cruise wedding with up to 18 guests.

With each wedding package, either Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort will plan and execute a beautiful reception in any of their selected locations. This includes not only the reception, but your tailored wedding cake and entertainment. Both resorts also offer tailored florist services to bring your floral fantasies to life.

Walt Disney World Resorts offers a number of services beyond the norm including photography, videography, and cosmetology. With the vast array of services the resorts offer, there’s very little reason to worry about anything other than your own attire when it comes to planning your fairy tale wedding.

In the upcoming weeks, I will be covering the different types of weddings available within each resort. Have you experienced a Fairy Tale Wedding and would like to have your experience profiled here at the Families.Com Unofficial Disney Blog? If so, click my author name above and send me your story. I look forward to hearing from you and covering the various aspects of Disney Weddings with you in the near future.
