Easy Ideas for Painting Murals in Your Childrens Room part 2

You paint like a three year old and hiring a muralist is out of the question. Don’t let this stop you from creating an awesome custom room for your kids’ room. I recently introduced two fun and easy ideas for painting murals in your kids room, here are a couple more easy idea.

Create Word Murals This wall mural idea is always unique as the words and sayings you choose will be your personal choice. You can order a custom stencil online with your favorite poem, encouraging words, or Chinese characters of your choice. There is no limit to your options. Your words or letters can be over sized, and take up a whole wall, or they can be small and serve as the border in the room. You can also fill a feature wall with a series of words of different sizes. This idea works for both boys and girls. All you need to do is change the color of the lettering. This wordy mural idea is also great for all ages. For a young girl you could use the poem “What are little girls made of”, for boys you could write a series of sayings about sports, trains, and puppy dogs. A teenage boy would like to see the names of his favorite sports athletes and a teen girl would like words like “love”, “Paris”, and “Diva”.

Create a Shadow You can make painting an intimidating mural simple by just creating a shadow of it. For example, you can paint your daughters walls hot pink, and then add the shadow image of a ballerina dancer in soft pink to the wall. To accomplish such as mural design, use an overhead projector to trace the image of your choice onto the wall. Then, simply fill in the image with one color paint. Be careful around the edges, using a smaller brush to make sure you stay in the lines. This technique creates a very sophisticated effect if you keep the image color a within two shades of the wall. You can create a fun cartoon effect by using a contrasting color.
