Entertaining Toddlers

Toddlers have a very short attention span. In order to keep them entertained, there are many tricks that parents have learned to make their lives easier. This includes what to have in the car to entertain children during heavy traffic and what to have to lessen their anxiety in the waiting room. Let’s look at some ideas for entertaining toddlers.

Busy Bag for Cars

A busy bag for toddlers will come in handy when you get stuck in traffic or have to wait in the dentist or doctor’s office. Filled with special goodies that your child doesn’t get to play with on a daily basis, the busy bag contains treats and will hold your toddler’s attention, at least for a short time.

To assemble a busy bag, fill a bag or backpack with the following items:

*Candy toys like ring pop

*Special stuffed animal

*Special blanket

*Matchbox cars

*A wooden puzzle

*Snacks

*Stickers and a sticker book

*Crayons and a coloring book

Velcro Board

To entertain toddlers, glue Velcro to a wooden board. Take some of your child’s small action figures or toys and glue Velcro to the bottom. Your toddler will have fun making the toys stand up on the board and repositioning the toys in different locations on the board.

Funny Felt Faces

By gluing felt to cardboard, you can make the pieces for a great game for your toddler. Different pieces of colored felt can be arranged to make different funny faces. When making the pieces to use for this fun toddler game, create a few different sets of facial expressions.

You’ll also need to cut out a face for your toddler to put the other pieces on to create their funny faces. Once you’ve created all of the pieces, keep them in a large plastic zipper bag and pull out for your toddler to play with whenever they need a distraction.
