“ER” Resurrects the Dead

If you vowed to never again tune into NBC’s hit medical drama ER after beloved Dr. Mark Greene (played by Anthony Edwards) was killed off in a highly emotional episode set in Hawaii back in 2002 you might want to reconsider.

For its 15th and final season ER is resurrecting the dead and Dr. Greene will once again return to County General. Well, kind of. According to producers, who say they wanted to find some way to make the series’ final episodes memorable, Edwards won’t exactly be rising from the dead. Rather, he will be appearing in multiple flashback scenes to provide viewers with insight into the past of Angela Bassett’s character, Cate Banfield.

TV Guide is reporting that Edwards signed on the dotted line less than 24 hours ago and will begin shooting his scenes next week. The episode will air November 13th and will begin by showing Banfield at County General Hospital’s emergency room — but not as a doctor. Instead, you’ll see her in bed with Edwards standing over her as her compassionate attending physician.

In addition to Edwards, another familiar ER veteran has confirmed that he too will return for one last hurrah. Actor Noah Wyle recently revealed that he plans to return for four of the final episodes.

Switching gears… his award-winning NBC series is already off the air, and since he is no longer gainfully employed by the peacock network Will & Grace star Eric McCormack had decided to auction off a gift he got for making the network so popular.

McCormack recently announced that he will be auctioning the 1999 Porsche he received from NBC execs after Will & Grace’s successful first season. (By the way, McCormack’s co-stars Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally also received Porsches from the series’ producers.) The actor donated the luxury sports car to an auction that will benefit Project Angel Food, a meal-delivery charity serving people with AIDS and other debilitating illnesses. The starting bid on McCormack’s pimped out silver ride is $23,100.

“It’s not just a part of Will & Grace lore – this car is a part of television lore,” McCormack told reporters, adding, “there’s somebody out there that would really appreciate knowing it was the car I drove every day to the lot.”

The online auction is accessible by clicking here. Bids will be taken until tomorrow at 3:15 p.m. EST. According to McCormack, the starting bid is “incredibly close to the car’s actual Blue Book value.” What’s more, the actor promises if the winning bidder lives in Los Angeles he will personally drive the car to their home and throw in some autographed DVDs of Will & Grace to boot.
