Fighting Back

Ooh Wee! Things are heating up in the kitchens of two of America’s top celebrity chefs… and the fire isn’t coming from the grill.

According to the New York Post tempers are flaring between “No Reservations” host Anthony Bourdain and chef turned talk show host Rachael Ray. It appears Bourdain is the one who lit into Ray first calling her out for endorsing Dunkin’ Donuts.

“She’s hugely influential, particularly with children,” Bourdain says in the November issue of Outside magazine. “And she’s endorsing Dunkin’ Donuts. It’s like endorsing crack for kids.”

Never one to mince words Bourdain continued to scald Ray with his less than kind remarks.

“I’m not a very ethical guy,” Bourdain told the magazine. “I don’t have a lot of principles. But somehow this seems to me over the line. Juvenile diabetes has exploded. Half of Americans don’t have necks. And she’s up their saying, ‘Eat some […] Dunkin’ Donuts. You look great in that swimsuit – eat another doughnut! That’s evil.”

As for Ray she reportedly had her rep respond to the Post with a statement that read the Food Network star actively “promotes balance and moderation, instead of living life in extremes.”

In fact, Ray’s rep revealed that when Dunkin’ Donuts announced the endorsement and advertisement deal with Ray they highlighted the fact that the celebrity chef helped them expand upon their “better for you” food and beverage options, which includes lighter fare choices such as smoothies and reduced-carb bagels.

Meanwhile, singer and actress Miley Cyrus also came out swinging this week. The hugely popular 14-year-old star of Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana took aim at ticket scalpers.

In a previous blog I told you that ticket scalpers who are charging tween fans upwards of $2,500 a ticket have beset Cyrus’ upcoming concert tour.

Cyrus says since the ticket scalping incidents have come to light she has managed to get some venues to add extra seats.

“We made (VIP sections) smaller, so the kids that wouldn’t necessarily have had the chance to come, they can get in, but not for a fortune,” Cyrus told Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show on Thursday. “It’s going to be a good show, but I don’t think it’s worth what it’s going for. For the people that do get to come, I’m going to make it the best show ever.”

Cyrus begins her 54-date “Best of Both Worlds Tour” next week. In some cities tickets for the tour sold out in less than four minutes.
