First Impressions Count at Yard Sales

There are still some great yard sales to visit before the winter sets in. Now is one of the best times to shop at yard sales, actually. The weather is still quite good, and many people are in a great mood to start cleaning out their houses of stuff before the holidays are upon us. They may also be looking to earn some extra money for the coming holiday season, and are more likely to have giant yard sales.

When it comes to shopping at yard sales, having a good ability to bargain can really take you a long way. You’ll be able to get your items for even less than the yard sale price, and you may even be able to purchase items that aren’t even out for display or weren’t on sale until you asked!

Making a good first impression to your yard sale sellers is important to get that bargaining power. Here are some tips.

Dress simply but clean

There are two wrong ways to dress when you shop at a yard sale. The first is to be wearing expensive tailored clothing. Why would someone want to bargain if you are showing off wealth or comfort? But, many shoppers go to the other extreme, wearing clothing that is ripped, soiled or stretched out beyond reason. This send the wrong message, too. Either you give the impression that you are putting on an act in order to bargain or you are turning people off altogether with a sloppy appearance.

You can dress simply, such in a pair of jeans and a plain top, so you look serious about shopping but not as if you slept on the road the night before.

I do have some more tips about making a good first impression when you shop the yard sales. Check back in a few to see the rest of the information on this topic.
