Fitness Review: Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds: Power Mile

Good morning and Happy Monday and welcome to our first Fitness Review of a DVD workout available for rental through Netflix or purchase at Amazon. I decided to look at Leslie Sansone’s Walk Away the Pounds: Power Mile for my first DVD review. Walking happens to be one of my favorite activities and I enjoy anything that gets me out and moving on my feet whether it’s walking the dog, walking the kids to school or walking on the treadmill while I watch my soaps.

The Power Mile workout is described as one that will help you walk your way to a smaller pants size and the power mile is all about giving you a challenging, express style workout to meet the demands of a busy lifestyle. Better yet, this DVD is also geared towards working out at home. So let’s talk about Leslie Sansone’s Walk Away the Pounds: Power Mile.

The Power Mile

I have to admit that my initial impression of this workout was disappointment. It was not what I was expecting at all. Honestly, I was hoping it focused on an outdoor or treadmill style walking or incorporated some of those aspects. On reflection and after performing the workout for a couple of days, I have to admit that her style of workout is far better than what I expected.

First and foremost, this workout can be performed by anyone in his or her home and all you need is a bit of clear space on the floor. It begins with a warm up of walking in place and then increases in tempo. She also adds some weights to the workout, but you don’t necessarily need to use the weights, you can simply mimic the motions with empty hands.

The workout keeps you moving, your heart rate begins to climb and you will go from walking in place to making sidesteps to walking in place again. You will use the weights to get your arms moving and toned, even as your heart rate increases. The workout itself flies by and at all times, she tells you that if you feel like you can’t do something or it’s getting to hard, just drop back to walking – don’t just stop cold.

Summary Review

  • Leslie Sansone leads the workout and she has a lot of energy. She is very upbeat, but she’s got almost a cheesecake smile going on, I don’t know that I could listen to her day in and day out. But I do think the workout will be good for the next week or so and I would be interested in checking out other Walk Away the Pounds DVDs
  • The workout itself was pleasantly challenging and the repetitive nature with a few simple moves thrown in made it easy to understand and perform. The instructor constantly suggested that if a move was too difficult or too hard to drop back to walking rather than stop working out all together
  • I’d give this workout 3 Sneakers, it’s worth checking out and I’m sure it will be of great appeal to others – the workout passes by swiftly and you do feel like you had a workout when you are done
  • There was no soreness the next day and my second workout utilizing this DVD was as swift as the first, though I did feel some tension in my upper arms from the lifting, curling and more

In conclusion, I’d recommend this DVD for anyone who enjoys a simple, straightforward workout in a short amount of time. We can all afford 20 minutes and this workout makes the most of them. So check it out and I’d love to hear what you think of this workout or any of Leslie Sansone’s Walk Away the Pounds exercises series.
