Five Things I Couldn’t Live Without During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is all about finding ways to be comfortable and distract yourself, because let’s face it, pregnancy is anything but comfortable. Your hips are killing you, you can’t get a wink of sleep, it’s hard to sit through a movie, and car rides can be intolerable. By focusing on the simple luxuries of life, you can get through the tough parts of pregnancy. Every woman has her own list of favorite things during pregnancy. Here were mine:

1. McDonald’s fish sandwiches. I couldn’t tell you what the lure behind these was, but I could not get enough of McDonald’s fish sandwiches when I was pregnant. While I had morning sickness, it was one of the only things I could eat that did not make me sick. Now every time I start craving these sandwiches I wonder, could I be pregnant?

2. The whirlpool tub. My parents have a nice big tub with jets that I loved to soak in when I was sore. Water makes you feel weightless and is the perfect way to relax when you can’t get comfortable in a chair or your bed.

3. Foot spas. You don’t need to buy a special foot bath with jets to soothe your tired feet. Fill the bottom of a plastic dish tub with glass marbles, then add warm water with bath salts. Soak your feet in the tub and gently roll the soles of your feet over the marbles. You will be amazed by how good it feels.

4. Chocolate chip cookies from Subway. Not everyone is aware of how amazing these cookies are when they are fresh out of the oven. I worked right next door to a Subway. It was dangerous to my waistline. (The Subway diet only works if you eat the healthy subs, not the cookies.)

5. Lipton Unsweetened Decaf Iced Tea. This was especially true while I was having morning sickness. I couldn’t stomach the taste of plain water, but I loved the slight bitterness of this tea when it was nice and cold. I kept a jar of the powder at my desk and mixed it with water bottles right out of the fridge.
