Free and Frugal Kid’s Events in April

EarthNeed something to entertain the kids with this month? There are plenty of free and frugal kid’s events in April. Some of them require you to register in advance. Most of these events are free for your children to attend. Others will cost a small amount of money. Many of the craft events this month relate to Earth Day. Which ones are your kids interested in doing?

Lowe’s Build and Grow
April 13, 2013: The Croods: Planter
Your child can build a wooden planter box that is decorated with characters and creatures from the movie “The Croods”. Registration is required, but the event is free. Kids get a free apron, goggles, patch, and more!

LakeShore Learning
Lakeshore offers free crafts for kids from 11:00 in the morning to 3:00 in the afternoon every Saturday.

April 6: My Favorite Animal Picture
Kids can use rainbow paper, rubbing plates, and collage materials to make a photo frame and a picture of their favorite animal.

April 13: Crafty Clothespin Magnets
Kids will make cute critters out of clothespins and craft materials. They can also attach a magnet to their creation so that it will stick to any magnetic surface.

April 20: Earth Day Binoculars
This craft will encourage your child to use his or her imagination! Kids will make pretend binoculars out of craft materials. They can decorate it however they like. They can use the binoculars later on to “see” whatever they can dream up!

April 27: Make-A-Face Puppet
Kids can use collage materials to create the face of a puppet. They can make it as expressive as they want to. When they finish, they can attach the face to a craft stick to make a puppet. This is another craft that will encourage your child to be creative and imaginative.

Michaels
Michael’s Kids Club events cost $2.00 per child for 30 minutes of crafting time. Go shopping in the store while your children make a craft. Not a lot of details about the crafts are given, so I am guessing based upon the image that has been added to each event.

April 6: Earth Day Celebration
It looks like this event involves painting the Earth onto cards, envelopes, and paper.

April 13: Earth Friendly Fox
I think this event involves creating a cute fox puppet. It looks like the head of the fox is made from paper and that it is attached to a craft stick.

April 20: Earth Day Trash to Treasure
My best guess is that this event will involve using recycled materials to make art.
