Freezer Cooking For Your Family

The most valuable tool I’ve found to save both time and money in the kitchen, is freezer cooking. In fact, I got so involved in freezer cooking that I actually teach a class on it locally. Plus I get the kids involved and we have so much fun together!

Freezer cooking was not an over night mastery for me. It took nearly a year to master and perfect to make it work for me and my family. There are only three of us, so we don’t need huge meals. We also don’t do it every month, but I’ll tell you, when I don’t – it’s noticed!

The whole process requires a lot of trial and error and several different recipes, some of which wound up becoming favorite meals and some that wound up becoming trash and we hope we never have to see again!

So why is Freezer Cooking such a magical tool and why does it make life so much easier, and exactly how do you cook in the freezer?

Well first of all, you don’t cook in the freezer; you use your freezer to store your cooked meals.

Freezer cooking is best described as bulk cooking. Basically you just cook a month of meals over a day or two period and store them in the freezer.

Why do people use freezer cooking? It saves time and money. Buying foods in bulk can save a bundle over the course of a month or two and storing your food for later consumption saves you extra trips to the store to buy things you don’t need.

In a four month period it saved me over $400. Of course, I combine my freezer cooking and shopping with coupons and sales to save even more!

Now, not every recipe can made and stored in the freezer. There are select recipes that work better than others. You can find these by doing a Google search on “freezer cooking”.

My favorite website to visit is www.30daygourmet.com. There you can find message boards, recipes and helpful hints on freezer cooking. Just remember there is a wealth of information out there on the subject and it’s available to help save you time and money in the kitchen.
