Fresh Starts for 2007

Now that the year 2007 is here, why not consider it to be modivation for a fresh new start in your life? Regardless of where you are in your Christian walk–even if you have never even taken that first step, a new year is here and it’s an opportunity for change and growth.

The number seven throughout the Bible seems to represent completion. While researching Bible passages that contained “seven” in them, I found well over 500! Here are only some of many examples:

  • The seventh day (the Sabbath) was blessed and sanctified by God. (Genesis 2:3)
  • Seven of every clean animal was brought into the ark with its mate. (Genesis 7:2)
  • Jesus fed the thousands with seven loves of bread and some fish (Matthew 15:36)
  • Seventy-seven times is how much we should forgive a brother who sins against us. (Matthew 18:22)
  • The book of Revelation makes mention of the seven: churches, lamps, stars, seals, Spirits, trumpets, angels, thunders, plagues, golden bowls, heads, mountains…

Now that the 2007 New Year has begun, why not accept the cancellation of your debt that Jesus has already paid for on the cross if you have never done so?

This can be an opportunity too for us as believers to examine ourselves and think about who we need to forgive if we are holding any kind of grudge.

2007 can be a year to ask the Lord for revival in our own lives. He can give us a fresh new perspective and help us to strive for holiness.

This can be a year for those who had difficulty in 2006 to find rest in our loving Father. For those who endured hardships this past year, I pray you see this year as a year of hope.

God bless the body of Christ that we might grow and fellowship, shining Jesus’ light on those who are in the dark, starting this day forward as God provides for us.
