The entertainment portion of any party can be expensive if you don’t know what to do. For a Halloween party there is absolutely no reason to spend a lot, because there are so many different things you can do instead. From games to frugal activities and crafts, there is plenty to do and it doesn’t have to cost a lot.
Body Part Activity
This is usually a huge hit at a Halloween party. We have done this every year just for fun in our home, but absolutely find it a blast at a Halloween party. Peel a couple of grapes for eyeballs, cook a handful of spaghetti noodles and allow to cool completely for the intestines, take a piece of fruit roll-up or fruit leather for skin, Scramble up some eggs for brains, dried corn makes perfect teeth, vienna sausages or hot-dogs cut to size make great fingers and you can cook the hot dogs or sausages to make them more wrinkly, and Bones for dogs to chew on can make excellent bones. Get creative and think of some more if you’d like. Place them in shoe boxes with a hole cut for hands to reach into or else use paper bags and blind fold each child. This is a fun activity and it is funny to watch the reactions.
Pumpkin Smile
This is like pin the tail on the donkey, except that you are using a pumpkin (or cat, or witch or ghost…). Draw a large pumpkin on a piece of poster board. You can either play pin the leaf on the pumpkin or you can play pin the smile on the pumpkin. Decorate the pumpkin accordingly, either leaving off the leaf or the stem or the mouth or whatever you choose. Using a piece of cardboard, cut out the missing object and decorate. Apply a piece of sticky tape or something else to the back to make it stick. Grab a piece of fabric and create a blindfold and have fun with this!
Traditional Games
You can play traditional games with a Halloween twist. Instead of Duck Duck Goose you might play Trick Trick Treat. Pass the pumpkin is like hot potato or pass the potato. Do a mummy wrap with toilet paper, or set up jelly bean guess jars with different types of Halloween candy (ie. Candy corns, etc.)
Costume Contest
Host a costume contest since everyone should already be in a costume. Try finding different categories, “Most Unique”, “Most Colorful”, “Most Realistic”, “Most Fitting”, “Scariest”, “Funniest”, “Cutest”, and much more. Try to find a category for everyone if possible. You can even set up a voting system where everyone can vote on who they think should win. Allow voters to place only one costume per category so everyone can win something.
