Fun and Frugal Valentine’s Day Gifts

twinkle toes With some of these creative ideas, you’ll be able to get Valentine’s gifts for all of the sweethearts in your life. Make it fun and frugal.

Valentine Gifts for Kids

Sneakers with fun designs are in demand for girls right now. If you don’t want to spend $50 on one of these types of sneakers, make them yourself. Purchase an inexpensive pair of tennis shoes or other plain sneakers on sale. Then using fabric markers, add some fun Valentine’s designs. To make them really special, add the child’s name as well.

Create a little card craft kit. First check with your stock pile for school supplies, such as crayons. Then add a couple of extras, such as heart stickers and Valentine pencils (you can get these for $1 or less at Target or dollar stores). Cut standard card stock in half and then fold each piece to form cards. You can add all sort of embellishments you may have around the house, such as pretty buttons or ribbon.

Valentine Candy Ideas

If you have any Christmas candy left over, now is the time to take advantage of it. Separate all of the red candy out and put it into a nice mason jar. Add a ribbon and a hand made tag to complete the gift.

Make your own candy! Melt some regular chocolate chips and then dip pretzels, pretzel rods or spoons in the chocolate (or drizzle it). Add some Valentine themed sprinkles, or just red sugar to make it really festive. Wrap in cellophane and add a pretty ribbon.

Valentine Gifts for Your Spouse

There is the ever popular coupon book of course, but why not try a love journal instead? Purchase an inexpensive blank lined journal. You can choose one that already has a decoration on it, or one that is plain so you can decorate it yourself. Use the first few pages to write a love letter to your spouse, or just to tell him or her one thing that you appreciate. Promise to secretly fill the pages, throughout the year, when he or she isn’t looking. Your spouse will have to constantly check the love book to see if there is a new message.
