Genealogy Gems released episode number 127 on February 21, 2012. This episode is called “Nick Barratt of the UK Who Do You Think You Are?” This episodes features an interview with UK presenter and historian Nick Barratt. Other topics include: the first ever Story@Home conference, and how a listener uses host Lisa Louise Cook’s “The Genealogist’s Google Toolbox”.
GeneaBloggers released an episode on February 24, 2012. This episode is called “African – American Genealogy Resources”. This episode is hosted by Thomas MacEntee, and co-hosted by Robin Foster (of Saving Stories).
Special guests include Tim Pinnick, who is a recognized specialist in Black newspaper research. He will tell you where to find newspapers, and how to use them for your research. Another special guest is Shelley Murphy, of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, Chapter of Central Virginia. She is creating a book about the “free colored” families who homesteaded in Michigan. Another Special Guest is Drusilla Pair, of the Find Your Folks blog, who talks about her recent “Sunday Crowns” presentation.
African Roots Podcast released episode number 151 on February 24, 2012. In this episode, host Angela Walton-Raji points out a whole bunch of upcoming genealogy weekends, presentations, meetings, and fairs.
Irish Roots Cafe released a new episode on February 20, 2012. This episode is called “Irish Roots Cafe Genealogy brings Sean Nós Abu ! Songs”. This episode features a band called Sean Nós which means “old style” in the Irish language. There are links in the show notes that will bring you to the band’s YouTube page, their Reverbnation page, their Facebook page, and more.
FGS released a new episode on February 24, 2012. This episode is called “Society Leadership: Presidents’ Day”. This episode is hosted by Randy Whited.
Guests include Sue Kaufman, President of the Texas State Genealogical Society, and Pat Oxley, President of the Federation of Genealogical Societies. They discuss how their genealogical societies overcame challenges to move their organizations forward. The featured genealogical society in this episode is Clarke-Oconee Genealogical Society.
