Happy Mother’s Day

Is it really Sunday? I’m exhausted today. I’ve got a ton of work to do and all these end of the year functions going on with our daughter. (Excuse me, I have to giggle over the thought of saying I have ‘functions’ to attend, but I do). Today is Mother’s Day and it’s a day that we honor the mothers in our lives. I like this day, of course, I’m a mom now and even though I’ve been a mom for years and I still have a hard time remembering that today is Mother’s Day.

First Thing This Morning

I woke up to a cheerful voice cheering me up with a loving tone and a bright “Happy Mother’s Day!” followed by a wonderful hug. Does it really get better than that? This week, my daughter made me a flower bouquet with coupons in it promising to help me with the dishes, the garden and anywhere else I might need her. She also made a paper plate flower with more coupon petals on it and they promised hugs, kisses and lots of love.

Again, I ask you does it get better than this?

Husbands and Devotions

My husband made sure the dogs went out this morning so they wouldn’t wake me up and he’s fixing a large breakfast and then the day is mine to do with as I want. If we want to go out, out we go. If we want to work here at home, we can work here at home. The great thing about Mother’s Day is it’s a day devoted to Moms.

I need to do something for my mom and my mother-in-law too and I am giving seed packets to some of the moms that I know. I love the idea of getting flowers, but I love getting flowers that I can plant more. Part of the reason for that is when you plant a rose bush, you get roses all year rather than just a bouquet that will wilt and die in a few days.

Kids, husbands, flowers and love – tell me, does it get any better than this?

What are you doing this Mother’s Day?
