As a home-based professional, I am always on the lookout for resources that are designed specifically for people that work from home. Today, I came across a good online resource for moms that work from home. Home-Based Working Moms (HBWM) is a web site that has been recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the top ten websites for working moms.
The Home-Based Working Moms web site is an online community where moms can learn and share information about home-based business as well as network with each other. Membership to the site is free. Lesley Spencer Pyle, the site’s founder, started the site in 1995 after the birth of her first child. The goal of the Home-Based Working Moms website is helping moms create lifestyles that create more freedom and flexibility to truly enjoy their family and their life.
There is a lot of diverse content on the Home-Based Working Moms web site, and I like that it has information about both business and personal topics. Some of the business resources that I found most helpful are the articles on topics like “How to Start a Home Business Without Going Into Debt” and “Keep Kids and Work From Colliding” and the directory of home-based professionals. While I have not yet joined the site, I could see myself doing that in the future so that I could network with the other home-based professionals that use the site. Home-Based Working Moms has quite a few interesting resources dedicated to personal topics, too. As I was looking around the site I found helpful information about balancing work and family, and some great nutrition and housekeeping tips. The only thing that I did not really like about the site is that there are a lot of ads, but if you are anything like me you have learned to look past the ads and just see the content. I would encourage other home-based professionals to check out Home-Based Working Moms to see what information or professional connections you can find today.
