Home Businesses with Low Start Up Costs

Starting a home business can be present itself with large start up costs. However, in today’s economy people are looking for ways to make extra money or replace a job loss with a home business. In that case, you most likely do not have funds lying around to get you out of the gate. Listed are some businesses that have little start up costs. If these are not your cup of tea consider starting one you are capable of to fund the small business you are dreaming of.

Cleaning Business: If you have a good vacuum you can start a cleaning business. Some cleaning people use cleaning supplies provided by the home or business owner. Businesses especially will not expect you to bring your own supplies or even a vacuum. The only start up cost will be your advertising. You can start out advertising for free on Craigslist and hand out flyers to businesses.

Child Care: If you have children and a supply of toys and room for napping then you have the makings of a child day care. This job should only be done by someone who truly loves children and can embrace the mess that comes with them. If you naturally love to play all day then this is the job for you. You can advertise for free on Craigslist.

Errand Runner: This job will require reliable transportation. If you have that and you enjoy running around all day then consider running errands or shopping for those who are unable or do not have the time. You can set your own hours and add in the cost of gas with your fee.

Tutor: You can advertise for free on Craigslist. You may want to check with your local library as you may be able to place flyers there as well. If you are good in math, science, English or another school subject then offer your services to help others who are struggling. Other than flyers there is no fee to start this business. However, many will want certified teachers or those who graduated in the field of study they seek tutoring for. This will vary.

Handyman: If you are handy and already have your own tools then consider doing some side jobs. Everyone wants a good handyman they can trust and afford. If that is you I am certain in time you will become a valuable commodity.

Virtual Secretary: Advertising will be your only cost as long as you already have a computer and internet access. If you have secretarial skills and understand how to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint, then you can begin your career as a virtual secretary.
