How to Make Affordable Homemade Easter Decorations

Economic stimulus package or not, there are many families, who are struggling to make ends meet. For them the Easter holiday will not be filled with mountain high piles of chocolate or massive baskets crammed with candy, toys and stuffed animals. Rather, parents falling on tough economic times will have to get creative to spread Easter joy.

If you are watching your wallet this Easter consider the following simple and affordable craft project. Not only will you be able to liven up your home decor with these cute bunnies, but your kids will also get the chance to exercise their creativity and spend time with you.

POMPOM BUNNY

Materials:

1 – 2-inch white pompom

1- 1 1/2-inch white pompom

3- 1-inch white pompoms

2- 1/2-inch white pompoms

1- 1/2-inch pink pompom

2- extra small pink pompoms

2- extra small white pompoms

1- white pipe cleaner

1- pink pipe cleaner

Ribbon scraps

Craft glue

Directions:

Glue together the extra large and large white pompom.

Trim away part of the fluff to create a flatter tummy and face for the bunny.

Glue together two small white pompoms and one small pink pompom for the bunny’s nose. Add two extra small white pompoms for teeth by gluing the pompoms at the bottom of the joined small white pompoms.

Glue the nose and teeth piece to the bunny’s face.

Glue two medium white pompoms to the bottom of the extra large pompom for bunny feet and glue another medium pompom to the back for a bunny tail.

Tie the ribbon in a bow and glue to the bunny’s neck.

Glue two extra small pink pompoms for eyes.

To make the bunny’s ears, cut a pink pip cleaner about two inches long. Fold the stem in half. Wrap a piece of white pipe cleaner around the outside perimeter of the pink pipe cleaner and secure by twisting all four ends of the pipe cleaners together. Place a dot of glue where the pipe cleaners are twisted and glue on the bunny’s head.

Once the glue has dried you can twist and shape the ears, as you like.

When you are done with your bunnies you can place them in plastic Easter eggs or sit them in an Easter basket. You could also glue a magnet to their back, and decorate your refrigerator.
