How to Write a and Effective Blog Post

With more and more people seeking professional blogging jobs or those who are interested in monetizing their blog the question of how to write an effective blog post is being posed. When blogs first came on the scene no one could have predicted that one day you would be able to make money off of them or find jobs blogging. However, that day is here and many bloggers are monetizing their blogs through affiliate links and ads. Even more flock to apply for professional blogger jobs which can be hard to come by. In the blogging world what will get you noticed is writing a blog post that develops readers.

How do you write an effective blog post?

Keep it Short: Blog posts should be no more than 700 words. Paragraphs and sentences should be short yet effective. This makes it easy on the eyes so people scanning through posts and internet will be more likely to read the post. Long never ending paragraphs and blog posts are often not read or even skimmed.

Highlight: A few ways to draw the eye to the important points of your posts are with bullet points, italics, or bold text. If you are listing items use bullet points. If you are listing ideas or advice then use bold text to highlight your main point. Use italics to place emphasis on a word or idea.

Images: Use images in your posts. The images should be clear, relevant, interesting and bold. Remember internet users are scanning to find something of interest and often the right image will make a reader stop and stay for awhile. Just be certain you have the right permissions for any photos or images you use in your posts.

Relevant Material: Writing about what you had for dinner last night will likely not interest many readers. As a writer you are giving a reader something. You give knowledge, a reprieve, comedy or something that touches their heart. You need to be transparent and a friend. It is fine to write about your day or your life but make the connection to your readers.
