I Love You

Have you ever noticed when you write the word marriage the letter I is just tucked in there among the other 6 letters. It’s not the focus of the word. Neither should I be the focus in a marriage. Marriage is not always about what I want or what I need. Sadly too many people have the idea that it’s my way or the highway.

Marriage is a partnership and that means thinking about the other person and what they want and what they need and how you can please them. Marriage is not about what I can get out of it and what makes me happy, so much as what I can do for my spouse that will make them happier or maker life better for them.

I Love You

Poems and songs have been written for years and years about love. While poems and verses and songs are great ways of saying ‘I love you,’ just the simple three words can mean so much.

Love needs to be more than just words though. There’s no point saying ‘I love you’ if by your actions you show something else. Often our very actions can be more revealing than the words we say.

You say ‘I love you’ by the thoughtful things you do for your spouse, by the time you spend doing a task that you know will make life easier or more pleasant for them. This blog shows a special gift of love that involved not expensive items but required a large investment of time. Or you might show your love in doing something else that you know they hate doing or have trouble doing or are pushed to find time for. You might show you love in a kiss or embrace.

If you watch people as they interact, you can usually see those who are in love still with their spouse. You’ll see the wink or smile, or the little look they give each other, the way they like to be together and do things together or the way one brushes the other other’s arm or hair as they pass – little things that say ‘I love you.’
