Inexpensive Valentine Decorations

valentine Valentine’s Day decorating can be a lot of fun. Who doesn’t love all of the hearts in their colors of red and pink. It is just the thing to brighten up a drab winter month, celebrate your love of your special someone or your family and bring a little cheerfulness into your home.

Another great thing about decorating for Valentine’s Day is that is a a fun activity for the kids to do, too. Children love cutting out hearts, adding glitter and all of the other activities associating with decorating for Valentine’s Day.

You can also have fun surprising a spouse or loved one at work, by adding a little bit of Valentine’s Day to their office or workspace.

Here are some quick and inexpensive Valentine’s Day decorating ideas. Incorporate one or a few to suit your needs.

The Basics

Create a quick and festive atmosphere with inexpensive balloons, streamers and construction paper hearts. Layer different colors of the hearts for a more interesting effect. Skip the party store, though, and purchase your supplies at your nearest dollar or discount store to save even more.

Blow up and entire room full of balloons in red, white and pink and make a “carpet” of them.

The Romantic

Frame a photo of the two of you and leave it on your love’s desk, surrounded by rose petals. Check with your local florist, who should have a handful or two of the petals available cheaply or even for free. If they aren’t available there, pick up cheap roses at a convenient store or grocery store, and take the petals off yourself.

The Crafty

Make a slew of crepe paper roses to decorate. Want an even more inexpensive way to make the roses? Use toilet paper! Shhhh. They look lovely, and no one will ever know.

Just tear the paper into square and stack the squares on top of each other. Fold the stack in a fan pattern. Secure the stack around the middle with a twist tie and then fluff each side toward the middle to form a flower. I used to do this as a child.

Here is a YouTube video that shows you how to do it, although the instructor goes one step more and actually decorates them with markers. I prefer them undecorated, personally.
