NPR has an episode of “All Things Considered” that was released on December 5, 2011. This episode is called “Gingrich’s Health Care Consultancy: Is It Lobbying?”

This episode discusses the businesses owned by Newt Gingrich, and raises questions about two of those businesses. Specifically, this episode talks about the Center for Health Transformation, and the Gingrich Group (a for-profit consulting firm). Are the efforts made by those groups something that should be considered as “lobbying”?

NPR has an episode of “Weekend Edition Saturday” that was released on December 3, 2011. This episode is called “Haiku Traffic Signs Bring Poetry to NYC Streets”. The New York City Department of Transportation has created a series of brightly colored signs that feature haiku related to traffic safety. People who follow the wisdom given in these haiku could avoid accidents, and car insurance claims.

NPR has an episode of “Talk of the Nation” that was released on December 5, 2011. This episode is called “Op-Ed: Treating Families That Don’t Immunize”.

This episode explores the question of whether it is ethical for pediatricians to refuse routine care to families with unvaccinated children. Does respect for a patients decision to decline care for their children outweigh the potential for outbreaks of diseases? This is definitely an issue that will affect health insurance.

This episode talks about the data about the unemployment rate for November of 2011. The drop in percentage of unemployment doesn’t necessarily mean that less people are receiving unemployment insurance. It could mean that a lot of people, who no longer qualify for those benefits, have given up looking for work.

NPR has an episode of “Morning Edition” that was released on December 2, 2011. This episode is called “Catholic Groups Fight Contraceptive Rule, But Many Already Offer Coverage”. This episode discusses the rule that requires employers who offer health insurance to their employees to cover the cost of birth control, and what Catholic groups think about it.
