Insurance Podcast Roundup – Week of May 21, 2012

headset Once a week, the Insurance Podcast Roundup brings you brand new episodes of podcasts that talk about insurance related topics. This is a good way to stay on top of the changes that could affect the insurance policies that protect you and your family.

NPR has an episode of “Morning Edition” that was released on May 21, 2012. This episode is called “Your Stories Of Being Sick Inside The U.S. Health Care System”. NPR did a poll on Facebook asking people to share their experience of the health care system. This episode goes over some of the stories shared by people who did not have health insurance and who then experienced a serious illness.

NPR released an episode of “Morning Edition” on May 16, 2012. This episode is called: “Poll: Americans Show Support For Compensation of Organ Donors”. The episode points out that there are federal laws that ban payments for organ donation. However, more than half the Americans that took this poll said they were in favor of compensation in the form of credits for health care needs for people who were live donors. In other words, they feel that it would be ok for a person who donated an organ to receive some free health care in compensation.

The Commonwealth Fund released an episode on May 18, 2012. This episode is called “Why Accountable Care is a Game Changer”. The episode features an interview with the Darthmouth Institute’s Elliott Fischer, M.D.. He talks about accountable care organizations (ACOs). He and Sandy Hausman, a Commonwealth Fund expert, discuss how ACO’s will change how we pay for health care.

Consumer Reports Radio released an episode on May 14, 2012. This episode is called “Non-Essential Insurance – from Consumer Reports”. This episode talks about the types of insurance coverage that you really do need, and points out some types of insurance policies that are non-essential. Are you paying for non-essential insurance? Is your family covered by the types of insurance that are absolutely essential to have?

AccuQuote released a brand new episode of their podcast on May 12, 2012. This episode is called “New Podcast! Final Expense Life Insurance”.
