It’s a Gas—Hotels Helping You Save This Summer: Go West

In my previous blog I listed some of the many creative deals being offered by lodgings across the country that are designed to help offset the skyrocketing price of gas. You might be surprised at how generous some of the nation’s hotels (both big and small) are being this summer. Take a look at the following gas saving discounts and rebates and consider how they might help fuel your family’s summer road trip:

CALIFORNIA

Things are heating up this season in San Diego. Right now you can cash in on the “Summer Sizzle” package being offered at the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter. The money saving deal includes free parking, breakfast, 10% off admission to local attractions such as the San Diego Zoo, and a $25 gas card good at all Shell stations. Room rates at the Marriott start at $279 per night and the gas deal ends on December 31, 2008.

In San Simeon, which is located halfway between San Francisco and L.A., the Orchid Inn is offering a “Cruise the Coast” package, which features a one-night stay, a bottle of wine, a continental breakfast, and a $25 gas rebate taken off your final bill. Rates start at $129 per room per night. The Orchid Inn is considered a top-rated California property and is conveniently located off the Pacific Coast Highway, right by Hearst Castle. The summer savings program ends on August 31, 2008.

ARIZONA

Head to Tucson this summer and you can take advantage of the “Go Package” at JW Marriott Starr Pass, which includes a $50 gas card redeemable at any local gas station. Room rates start at $199 per night, but the price includes access to the hotel’s new lazy river and waterslide. The gas saving deal ends on September 20, 2008.

NEW MEXICO

Travel to the Eldorado Hotel and Spa in Santa Fe this summer and you will receive a food and beverage credit when you present a dated gas receipt or a rental car contract that corresponds with the date of check-in. The credit can be used toward the Old House restaurant or 24-hour in-room dining. Room rates start at $219 and a two-night minimum stay is required to qualify for the deal that expires on September 6, 2008.
