Making Your Party an Event

left

It’s one thing to have a party where loved ones gather for some food and fun, but it’s quite another for your shindig to make such a huge impact on your guests that its talked about for weeks, or even months down the road.

Maybe you hire a guy to teach your guests how to weave baskets underwater at your next pool party or you rent out an entire petting zoo for your kid’s fourth birthday. Regardless, the object is to make your get-together as memorable as possible. Fortunately, you don’t have to break the bank in order to create an unforgettable experience for guests. Rather, think of simple ways you can infuse excitement into basic parties.

For example, with graduation season upon us, many families will be hosting congratulatory bashes to mark their student’s accomplishments. However, instead of throwing a standard shindig, consider kicking it up a notch by adding extra elements. For example, if you are hosting a party for a graduating high school senior, include a time capsule activity. Ask each guest to donate an item that helped them make it through school. If you are inviting a bunch of adults to your child’s party, have them bring in items that represent the year they graduated from high school. Next, place all of the items into an air-tight, waterproof container and store it in a safe place. Then, decide when you will gather again for a reunion party to open up the time capsule and reminisce about the days gone by.

Another option to make your child’s commencement party one that guests will remember for years to come is to host a huge outdoor sleepover. Weather permitting you could have each student bring along a sleeping bag to the shindig and after a night filled with live music, dancing, games and plenty of incredible food, have each teen set-up camp in your yard. You could even hire a magician, a palm reader or harpist to close out the night before the kids hit the hay.
