This blog is part of a series on transcription. If you haven’t read the other blogs in this series, make sure to check out the summary page for a listing of all transcription blogs. For part one of this interview, please click here.

Here is the information that Linda, the Director of Andrews School gave on the cost of the course, and signing up for the course:

No-Interest Payment Plan and Financial Assistance: Tuition is $3,800. Students may enroll with a minimum down payment of $1,000. We allow two
years to pay at no interest. Payments would be $116 per month. Most students prefer to pay $1,500 with monthly payments of $96 per month with no interest.

Prerequisite Skills And Pre-Enrollment Test: All students need to check to make sure that they reach the minimum keyboarding speed of 45 wpm before taking the pre-enrollment test. They may check their speed using Typing Test or other online sources. Students can find the pre-enrollment test under How To Enroll on our website. We encourage the students to follow the instructions carefully. There is no charge, an no previous knowledge of medical terms or anatomy is needed. We are not testing for medical knowledge, but instead are testing for proficiency in spelling, keyboarding, proofreading, grammar, word usage, ability to accomplish tasks effectively using a computer, and ability to follow instructions. A careful attention to written detail is necessary in this program. The student will also require excellent hearing (and listening) skills. Approximately 65% of applicants receive a passing score, so proofread carefully.

Previous Education Credit: We do not offer a shortened or partial
course. For quality control purposes, students, including RN’s, physical therapists, veterinarians, paramedics, pharmacologists, etc., complete the entire program. Medical professionals complete certain parts faster due to previous education and work experience.
