More Fabulous Fall Frugal Fun for the Whole Family

Wow! That’s a whole lot of F’s in my title, but it is true. With the weather quickly changing and all the opportunities to be outdoors or to celebrate fall, I wanted to take some time to focus on seasonal activities for the whole family.

I have already given you four great places to start in Frugal Fun For Your Whole Family, but I have several more to share.

Parks

Now is the time to enjoy the great outdoors. Look for park activities to enjoy, even if it is just a hike or walk on a trail. Spend time looking at the leaves as they begin to change, looking at the different bugs or animals that you see and just generally enjoying the outside world that mother nature provided for us. Many parks also offer outdoor concerts that are perfect for this time of year and are often free or cost $1-$2 to get in.

Neighborhood Activities

Many people do not live in neighborhoods but if you do, or even if you are in an apartment complex, look for neighborhood events and activities that are planned to celebrate the fall. With the pools closing, most will host festivals or bbq’s in the street. If there isn’t anything planned, consider planning your own!

Craft Stores

Many craft stores offer make and takes or free and inexpensive work shops and demonstrations that allow the whole family to get involved. Usually these are seasonal projects reflecting on the current season or the upcoming holidays. Be sure to check into what yours has to offer and sign up or call to make a reservations.

Home Improvement Stores

Mimicking the craft stores, most larger home improvement stores and chains offer workshops or demonstrations, teaching you a skill or a project that allows you to do it yourself. We all know that do it yourself projects almost always save you money in the long run. Check out their calendar of events and see if there is anything that might interest the whole family. You can purchase your own supplies and take them home and the whole family can have a fun DIY day.

And do not forget the traditional activities that tend to become more popular at this time of year. Picnics, camping, fishing excursions and nature walks are all part of the fall season. Take your whole family and spend some special time having fun and bonding.

What other frugal ways does your family spend time together during the fall season?
