More Halloween Events for Kids with Special Needs

pumpkins Halloween is happening soon! This year, the holiday is taking place on a Wednesday. This means that there will be events happening this weekend, and through the week. There are plenty of Halloween events that are designed for children who have special needs to attend. Here are some more of them to check out.

On October 25, 2012, Marbles Kids Museum, which is located in Raleigh, North Carolina, will host a Family Fun Night Spooktacular for children who have special needs and their families. Children are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. The event is set up to allow children who have special needs to spend time at Marbles in a calmer, quieter, environment. Admission to this event is free.

On October 26, 2012, The Tomball Regional Medical Center, which is located in Tomball, Texas, will host a Halloween carnival for children who have special needs.

This event is presented by Lone Star College-Tomball Occupational Therapy Assistant students. All activities at the event will be wheelchair accessible. Children who attend must be accompanied by an adult. The carnival will be held inside the new LSC-Tomball Health Science building.

On October 27, 2012, the Loft at the Evanston Public Library, which is located in Evanston, Illinois, will hold a “Creepy Crafts” event. It is open to kids who are sixth through twelfth graders.

Register in advance to make paper pumpkins, spiders, zombies, mummies, treats, and more. This event is not specifically for kids who have special needs. However, it is a non-scary Halloween event that might work well for kids who have ADHD, autism, or other special needs.

On October 27, 2012, SunUP ARC, which is located in Vero Beach, Florida, will hose a Halloween party with friendly ghosts, goblins, and princesses. There will be a Special Coloring Contest, and fun games. This will take place at the East SunUp ARC Campus. Children and adults are encouraged to wear costumes. You must RSVP if you want to attend.

On October 28, 2012, West Des Moines, Iowa, welcomes all costumed children for the Historic Valley Junction Pumpkin Walk.

This event is not specifically designed for kids who have special needs, but it appears that it would be accessible and appropriate, considering that it is taking place in the stores in town. Kids can trick-or-treat from store to store, and participate in fun activities. There will be free pumpkins in a gazebo.
