My Favorite Halloween Couple Costumes: Spookiest Costumes

I didn’t exactly set out intending to do a My Favorite Halloween Couple Costumes series, but that’s what happened. I’ve covered funniest, sexiest, period, and classic characters costumes. I have one final category left: spookiest.

I’ve never dressed up as anything spooky for Halloween. I have a sneaking suspicion neither has Wayne. (I know he hasn’t since we’ve been together, but I can’t vouch for when he was a wee thing.)

It might be fun to break out of our molds and try something completely different though. Here’s the costumes I could see us doing that with:

Ghostly Gentleman and Gentlewoman: I’m infatuated with the late 1800s and early 1900s. These costumes evoke that era and are reminiscent of ghosts you might find frequenting some place like Disney’s Haunted Mansion. That makes these costumes spooky, but in a tame, fun way.

Mummy King and his Queen: Once upon a time anything Egyptian used to fascinate me. I think because King Tut’s stuff was on display at the Natural History Museum in Denver when I was a kid. (The museum is still there but now goes by a new name, one I can’t ever get right so I just call it what I remember it being.) Anyway, it was a huge deal and getting to see the exhibit was a huge deal and left an impression. Might be fun to be wrapped up with Wayne for a night. These costumes appealed to me because they’re not the traditional white. They’ve got a little rustic, authentic-looking color to them.

Gothic Vampire and Vampira: The costumes are, once again, reminiscent of a bygone era where they wore romantic accessories like capes and flowing gowns. Sort of spooky, but not frightening. An elegant version of a Halloween classic.

Phantom of Venice and Masquerade Ball Queen: The entrance any couple would make in these getups would be nothing short of dramatic. The costumes are more stately and regal than spooky, but there is an air of creepiness too –in a dignified, controlled, and refined manner. I love it!
