The New Year’s Babies of 2017

These babies experience a moment of fame shortly after being born. Here is a quick look at some of the New Year’s Babies of 2017.

The Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 2016. This inspired some parents who are Cubs fans to give their newborns names that commemorate that historic win. Some of these newborns were New Year’s babies.

Wrigley Rose has the unofficial honor of being the first baby born in a Chicago-area hospital on New Year’s Day. She was born in AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, at 12:12 a.m. Wrigley was named after Wrigley Field. She was an early baby who was not expected to arrive for a few more weeks.

Addyson Kelley Jeanne Barham was born at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois, at 12:12 p.m. Her parents are Cubs fans who named their daughter after Addison street (which borders Wrigley Field) and Addison Russell, who is a Cubs shortstop. Addyson arrived earlier than expected.

Savannah Zwolen was born at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois, at 12:31 a.m. Savannah was born prematurely. She has a two year old brother who was born on another memorable day – Black Friday.

The first reported baby of 2017 in the Chicagoland area was Lilian Cortes. She was born at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center at 12:06 a.m.

The first New Year’s baby born at Virtua Vorhees hospital in Delaware was Sawyer Nelson. He was born at 12:00:13 a.m. John Joseph Vellucci was born at the Abington Memorial Hospital, in Montgomery County, Delaware, at 4:44 a.m. His middle name is a tribute to his father’s youngest brother (who had passed away.)

The New Year’s baby born in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, was Ryan Louis. He was born at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital at 1:28 a.m. In Montour County, Pennsylvania, the first New Year’s baby was Frederick Frost, who was born in Geisinger Medical Center at 1:28 a.m.

The first New Year’s baby in Memphis, Tennessee, was named Ka’Mayia, who was born at Methodist Healthcare at 12:22 a.m. Annabelle Grace was born at Baptist Women’s Hospital at 2:11 a.m. Eran Ibrahim was born in Regional Medical Center at 2:15 a.m. He was expected to arrive a few days before – but waited until New Year’s Day.

Nishon’te King has the title of being the first New Year’s baby born in Miami-Dade County in South Florida. She was born at Jackson South Community Hospital at 12:32 a.m.
