No King at Burger King

The other day we were driving home after running an errand and Jessie wanted an apple bag. She was very insistent about it. We passed Burger King first followed closely by McDonald’s. She cried from the back seat to turn around. She was really upset in the back. As we approached Walmart she wanted to get an apple bag there because there’s a McDonald’s inside. I kept driving home and as we approached the street where we’d turn, Jessie changed to wanting to go to Tom Thumb. We have a new tradition of getting a corn dog at the service deli whenever we go to Tom Thumb now. I didn’t turn and her last opportunity to ask was as we approached Sonic.

The McDonald’s gift card that Grammy and Papa bought Jessie so that I could keep her in Happy Meals has run out. I have indulged in a lot of apple bags this month so we need to be more austere. We can do it.

Jessie knows all the fast food restaurants that carry apples. She wants to stop for an apple bag, which is a whole kids’ meal and not just the bag of apples, whenever we pass any of them. Right now Burger King is the preferred stop. Both Jessie and Emily really like the chicken fries and apple fries. I love the food at Burger King too and BK has onion rings and larger large soda.

I have learned that BK is going to do away with the king. I am happy about this development because that king in the commercials is creepy and a little scary. BK wants to change its focus and attract a different demographic to the healthy choices on the menu.

I can’t wait to see what BK does to replace the king.
