Nursery Ideas

It all began one warm summer day as I was washing sheets from the three beds in our home; our queen, the guest/our son’s full, and the crib. I started thinking about ways to make the kid’s bedroom work for both our son and our unborn daughter.

Around the time that my husband and I were planning our wedding, I read an article about using white bed linens and towels not only for ease of washing but also for simplicity and cohesion. Needless to say, I did not purchase white bed linens or towels. With multiple moves and rearrangement of rooms, I started to wish that I had. For the past year or so I have been trying to transition these items into white.

Our current crib bedding has boy written all over it in blue and brown. That being said, I do not want to buy girly crib bedding especially since the boy and girl will be sharing a room for a few years. After looking at hundreds of crib bedding sets, I decided to go simple and go white. White can be a bit boring so accenting is a must! The accents for the nursery side of the room will be vibrant ballet inspired art along with white muslin blankets with fun pink prints and maybe even a quilt. Wood letters will be painted pink and hung on the wall that spell out our daughter’s name (which we are not telling anyone!) Our son’s side of the room will be adorned with guitar inspired art, a splash of color in a throw, and wooden letters that spell out his name will hang on the wall above his bed.

My ideas of course have not been made entirely actual yet. I have two paintings almost done and another painting and drawing in progress. Of course these items need to be hung and white crib bedding needs to be bought and made (I cannot find a bumper and skirt in white that I both like and can afford!). Thankfully, we have a little time to get everything in order. I feel like things are well on their way!
