Overnight Guests? Use Your Camper or RV as a Guest Room

If you plan on entertaining guests over Fourth of July (or anytime really) there is no reason that you cannot transform your camper or RV into a guest house or guest room. Of course, you don’t want guests to feel like you’re saying, “Go to your room,” but you might just find that they too will appreciate a little extra space and privacy. Of course, it depends on your guests, and you are the best person to judge the situation.

If you already have a nice guest room or guest house, you may not need this option. However, if you don’t have these ammenities or you’re having more guests than you have spaces, this could prove to be a great idea if your recreational vehicle is self-contained.

If you are unsure about how to hook up power to the camper, please call a professional to help you. Many recreational vehicles use higher amperage than the typical outlet, even outdoor outlets, so you probably won’t be able to just plug it in. You may however be able to use a generator or to hook it up at the pole with assistance (and permission from the power company if necessary).

Fill the water tank and explain how everything works, but it is still best for guests to shower and use the restroom inside your home as much as possible to avoid filling the waste tank. You don’t want to be dealing with that while you have company. The idea is to provide extra space for sleeping, dressing, and getting away for a few, which a camper can do nicely.

If a guest is uncomfortable utilizing an RV for a guest room, you might simply use it as a dressing room and a space to store luggage if space inside the home is limited. You don’t want people stepping on other people’s clothing and luggage or constantly having to move things to find a place to sit down.
