Air Bud World Pup

Air Bud first emerged with the story of a Golden Retriever who could play basketball. The series then continued on with the same Retriever playing volleyball, football, and more. Soon the series needed more. Air Bud World Pup is the movie in which the Air Buddies are introduced. In this movie Buddy’s family marries and gets a stepfather and sister. Josh, Buddy’s owner, soon meets up with his new little sister’s soccer coach (which is a school girl his age). Before long Josh finds a new interest in soccer. With the school soccer team two players short it is left … Continue reading

Snow Buddies

“Snow Buddies” is a continuation of the famous Golden Retriever series that began years ago as “Air Bud” hit the media. After the dog had played several sports, the need to add more to the movies brought about the idea for puppies. The first movie with the Golden Retriever pups was “Air Buddies”. “Snow Buddies” is the latest pup creation by Disney. The G rated movie is about 87 minutes long of cuteness and laughter. The pups begin at home were they all meet up and begin their daily adventure. Their curiosity leads them into an ice cream truck which … Continue reading

Sadie

It was a gorgeous sunny day yesterday, and I decided to take my dogs to the nearest dog park. We have a great dog park here in Wilsonville, Oregon — it’s a gigantic fenced in area, shielded from view by a line of trees (so the dogs aren’t seeing cars/walkers/kids playing soccer/etc). There were some great dogs at the park yesterday, too. Two puppies who tumbled all over each other playing. A dignified old Scottie dog who just watched the crazy kids running around. A boxer and a poodle mix who raced around chasing balls. And Sadie. Sadie caught my … Continue reading

Gearing Up for Puppy Bowl IV

That’s right. It’s that time of year again. Time for what’s become a pre-Super Bowl tail-gating tradition in our house: watching Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl. And it’s the team of frisky pups getting their game on that truly puts the “tail” in tail-gating! This year’s “Starting Line-up” Which of the 33 puppies will be able to hang in there for the duration of the game? Who’s got the moves to go the distance? There’s no telling until the hounds are let loose on the field, but here’s this year’s contenders: Abigail (Jack Russell Terrier) Jack (Mini Dachshund) Attucker (Beagle) Jackson … Continue reading

An Interview with Art4Milkbones

Interesting names tend to catch my attention. So when I saw an Etsy shop called Art4Milkbones, I had to investigate! Owner and dog lover Elizabeth from Art4Milkbones was gracious enough to answer a few questions for me. Aimee: How did your business get started? What inspired you? Elizabeth: I found Etsy thru another site and really liked what I saw. I didn’t see a lot of dog themed items there at the time & decided to give my little woodcut pups a try. One thing led to another & I was hooked. My love for my dogs inspires me as … Continue reading

Bailey’s Big Adventure

A few weeks back, a neighbor asked if I wouldn’t mind watching her dog for the day. Her dog’s name is Bailey and I believe she’s a Maltese. (As much as I love dogs you’d think I’d be well versed in all breeds, but alas I’m not. I know obvious ones like Poodles, Golden Retrievers, Boxers, Dalmatians, and a few others, but I’m still learning.) Anyway, it wasn’t like I had to entertain Bailey the entire day. Just let her out a couple of times and make sure she had dinner. Easy. Also, if I wanted to and was so … Continue reading

Snuggling Up With Quilter, Author, and Pet Lover Annette Mahon

Photo of Libby and Annette Mahon provided courtesy of Ms. Mahon and used with her permission. If you have not had the pleasure of reading any of the dozen titles (mystery and romance) penned by author Annette Mahon, let me take the chance to introduce you to a multi-talented woman with an affinity for animals. In addition to loving her three-year-old Australian Shepherd Libby and writing, Ms. Mahon also quilts and commutes between Arizona and Hawaii (both of which are settings for many of her books). She was gracious enough to entertain my questions about how Libby fits in with … Continue reading

Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (1993)

“Homeward Bound” is one of my children’s favorite movies. It’s the story of Shadow, Chance, and Sassy, the pets belonging to the three Seaver children. Shadow is the older, wiser dog, voiced by Don Ameche. Sassy (Sally Field) is a Himalayan cat, and she truly lives up to her name, the sassy comments flying like fur. (Forgive me for that one.) Chance (Michael J. Fox) is a mongrel, the newest addition to the family. He’s been in animal control clinics and dog pounds several times in his life. He’s a dog of the streets, and because of this, has a … Continue reading

New Puppy: What’s in a Name?

My sister-in-law just bought a beautiful, cuddly and absolutely adorable 7-week-old golden retriever puppy for my nephew. This is a momentous occasion in his life because he’s wanted a dog for as long as he could say dog. He loves to play with ours (we have five of them), but they have never been in a position to have a dog before. Today was a big day for them and what ended up amusing me was the biggest problem that they had was what to name the puppy. Agonizing Over a Name Naming a child is something parents can spend … Continue reading

Puppy Bowl III

While we were hanging out during Super Bowl Sunday last year, Wayne was channel surfing and happened across the Animal Planet‘s Puppy Bowl. He quit surfing so we could watch, knowing I’d get a kick out of it. We both ended up awing over the puppies romping about in a football field pen replica. And then we both cracked up over the Kitty Half Time Show, where a bunch of kittens with a carpeted stage enhanced with toys frolicked about. I’d forgotten all about it until, in a turn of déjà vu, we were hanging out yesterday afternoon watching TV, … Continue reading
