Organize the Right Way – Frugally!

Okay, I honestly will admit, one of my favorite past-times, or hobbies to some – is Organizing! There really isn’t a right or wrong way to organize, simply because each person is unique and different in what works for them. For me, I am a clean person. I do not like dirt, smells or anything else! But I was a bit on the cluttery side. It took me awhile to figure out why. When I did, everything made more sense and I was able to organize much better plus all of a sudden I realized I had all this money … Continue reading

Too Many Address Labels? Here’s What To Do With Them

Do you have piles of those little address labels that companies send out to get you to donate money to their causes? I probably get two sets a week, and I have literally dozens and dozens of sheets of address labels. Of course I had to weed through them because many of them contained outdated information, as I have moved a couple of times. However, I have found some great uses for the little address labels, so they don’t go to waste. I hate throwing things away, so I have to find uses for even the free things I receive. … Continue reading

A Frugal State Of Mind

Simply saying you are a frugal person does not actually make it so. We all like to save money where we can and should do it as often as possible. But what does it mean to truly be frugal? My favorite definition of frugal I’ve ever found was this: fru·gal (froo-guhl) adj : avoiding waste; “an economical meal”; “an economical shopper”; “a frugal farmer”; “a frugal lunch”; “a sparing father and a spending son”; “sparing in their use of heat and light”; “stinting in bestowing gifts”; “thrifty because they remember the great Depression”; “`scotch’ is used only informally” Avoiding waste. … Continue reading

Are 10 for $10.00 Deals Really That Great?

This week in our grocery store advertisement, like many other weeks, we have several things advertised at 10 for $10.00. Are these deals really that good? I went straight to the source – the grocery store – to find out. I spent time interviewing the grocery store personnel, and cashiers, and I also asked a few customers to get their take on these advertised savings. And here is what I learned. In most cases, the deals are great. When you look at the regular retail prices for these products compared to what the sales price is, it’s quite the steal. … Continue reading

Teach Your Children To Be Frugal

“Children learn by example” It’s one of my favorite quotes, and one that I have to remember to tell myself everyday. If it is not I, who shows them right from wrong, and what is positive and negative to do in their world, who will? The same goes for teaching them about money management and the frugal way of living. If you aren’t showing them everyday by your own example, how can we expect them to do it themselves? How can we get angry at the child in the grocery store asking for a box of Twinkies, when we ourselves … Continue reading

Frugal Ways To Get Rid Of Stubborn Stains and Spills

There is nothing more frustrating than having a stain on a favorite outfit, or spill a drink or something else on your beautiful carpet. This list is a list of easy and frugal methods to remove stains and spills: NOTE: Please remember that laundering and then drying an article of clothing with a stain on it, will set the stain. And What About All Those Paper Towel Tubes?

Our family also seem to acquire a plentiful amount of paper towel rolls too, but not as much as toilet paper tubes. Nonetheless, we are still faced with a nice pile of them occasionally and I’ve often used them for other things. Here are a few frugal ways to use up those paper towel rolls and save a little trash! Grocery Bags All those plastic grocery bags that we accumulate every time we visit the grocery store or discount chain store, really add up. I hate to throw them away, so stuff them inside a paper towel roll. About 10 … Continue reading
