Study: Women Freeze their Eggs to Avoid “Panic Parenting”

There are many reasons why women would choose to freeze their eggs. A study revealed a new reason why single women choose to freeze their eggs for non-medical reasons. These women are trying to avoid “panic parenting”. “Panic parenting” is described as: entering an unwise and/or unwanted relationship with a partner the woman is not enthusiastic about in order to have a genetically related child. The study was done by Dr. Kyle Baldwin and Professor Lorraine Cully at the Center for Reproduction Research at De Montfort University. They interviewed 31 women who had frozen their eggs for “social reasons”. (In … Continue reading

$2.40 per year

Sometimes kids help you figure out some of the simplest things. In the past I’ve noticed how our son helps his parents see the beauty of small things. The saying about stopping to smell roses comes to mind. Until our son came around I had forgotten the times I used to sit in the bathtub and watch the water slowly swirl into a tornado as it drained away. I had completely forgotten about this small marvel in life. Truth be told I don’t even think I’ve taken a bath in a number of years (opting for what seems like the … Continue reading

Jewel’s Unconventional Wedding and Matthew’s Unique Parenting

They finally did it! After more than 10 years together Jewel and her rodeo champion boyfriend Ty Murray are officially husband and wife. According to reports, the award-winning singer and her longtime boyfriend got hitched in a private ceremony in the Bahamas last night. Jewel’s rep confirms that she wore “a traditional wedding gown, while Ty wore his favorite blue jeans, white shirt and cowboy hat.” The singer’s rep also added that the ceremony was not attended by anyone but the minister who married the couple. 12 Suggestions For Raising Godly Children

So you want to bring your children up in God’s ways so that they will follow Him. Here are some suggestions for ways you can help achieve this. 1. Pray for and with your child. Let them see the reality of your faith as you turn to the Lord in prayer when problems or hard times come, or just for God’s help with decisions each day. “Dads Don’t Babysit” Shirt Sparks Conversation

There are certain stereotypes about parenting that persist despite the fact that the world has changed. One of them is the concept that dads are not able to take care of their own children. One dad has gotten so fed-up about being called a “babysitter” that he has created a t-shirt designed to crush that stereotype. Al Ferguson is a British writer who is the founder of the Dad Network. It is a blog dedicated to the art of modern fatherhood. It is an online hub and support network for dads. You might be familiar with “mommy blogs” – but … Continue reading

Dads are Important, Too!

A few months ago, a book was released that emphasized the important role that dads have. It is possible that the book may have influenced some parents to take a moment and think about the importance of dads and whether society might need to update its idea of what dads can do. Let me begin by clearly stating that I think that both dads and moms are very important to their children. Each can have a very strong influence. Whether that influence is positive or negative depends largely on the individual choices each parent makes. A book called Do Fathers … Continue reading

I Wouldn’t Miss This For The World

It really is the simple things in life that make it all worthwhile. There is nothing better than the sound of Hailey’s laughter. Ever since she was a baby if she laughs too hard she gets hiccups. Now that she is all grown up she still does that. I wonder if her father remembers that about her. The hardest part about being divorced is trying to explain to your child why her father isn’t there. I’ve tried so many times, made a million excuses but inside my heart breaks for her. How can he not want to be part of … Continue reading

Potty Training 101

Potty training isn’t one of those “one size fits all” kind of things. Every child is unique, they develop at different rates. One child may be ready to be completely potty trained at 18 months and another may still be struggling at 4. You may have to try several different strategies before you find one that works for you and your child. Don’t get discouraged if it takes a while, most kids aren’t potty trained in a day. The first and most important thing when it comes to potty training is knowing when your child is ready. Can she stay … Continue reading
