Praying Over Tasks For The Day

In a study my darling husband and I are working through together, called Proverbs and Parables – 16 studies on God’s wisdom for living by Dee Brestin, it suggested a special daily assignment. This was to ‘each morning prayerfully commit to the Lord your work for the day and let Him direct your thoughts. As he brings various activities to mind, list them on paper. Then let Him show you what you should do first, second etc.’ This is an application of Proverbs 16:3 which says ‘Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.’

This suggestion sounded like a good idea to me, so the next morning I dutifully sat before the Lord and followed this advice. I ended up with my guided list of tasks for the day. My day went smoothly and I was interested to see how much I had achieved. Only one of the tasks on my list did not get completed and it was the least important anyway and could afford to wait.

Yesterday was a little different in that the main priority was shopping we needed to do for a special person. We got it done as well as some other things needed and still found time to have a late lunch overlooking beautiful Gerringong Beach before coming home.

Then I wrote my introduction for the marriage blog. So yes, I‘ll now be joining Courtney and writing some articles for the marriage blog as well. I hope you’ll come and check them out.

I would definitely say this prayer idea works bringing our plans before God and seeking His guidance and direction about how to achieve them. Why don’t you try it and let me know the results? I’ll be surprised if your days don’t go smoothly and that you don’t get more done that way.

The other prayer help that arrived in my inbox recently I admit I haven’t tried yet. But it also seems a good method of organizing prayer. I’ll tell you a little about that on my next blog.
