Primary Time: February Theme “I’ll Follow Him in Faith”

The sharing time theme for February is “I’ll Follow Him in Faith.” The children will learn that they can follow the Savior by doing the things that He would do if He were here now. They will learn to follow His example and to do the right things while here on Earth.

This is a great theme to incorporate into the home. You can have a family home evening based on the theme. During the week you can ask your children what Jesus would have them do in certain situations. You may want to prepare some experiences to role-play with your children. You can have each child draw an experience out of the jar at dinner and discuss the situation as a family.

It is also important that your children learn about Christ so that they can follow his example. You may want to share stories from His life with them. You can read from the New Testament as a family. You may want to read from the New Testament reader to your younger children. These make great bedtime stories. After you finish each story talk about what Jesus wants us to do. You can discuss how we can learn from His example every night.

The song for the month is “This is My Beloved Son” p 76 in “The Children’s Songbook.” You can share the stories that each verse refers to as you learn this song with your children. This is a great song to practice during family home evening. You can also sing it to your children before they go to sleep at night.

The sharing time page also includes a craft for the children to complete. This month it is a cross-stitch. You may choose to copy it onto paper and have your younger children color it instead. It would be a great goal for those who go to activity days complete the project. It completes a goal in the “Developing Talents” section.
