Primary Time: Missionary Work

Sharing the gospel with others is an important part of the teachings of the church. As we do this we are not force our beliefs on others, but rather open the door for them to ask questions and to learn as much as they feel comfortable learning. Primary children can also participate in inviting friends and loved ones to learn more about the church.

You can have your children invite friends to participate in family home evenings and family activity nights. One great way to do this is to invite the entire family to participate not just the friend. This can create a chance for friendships to form, and you can make the lesson as spiritual or nonspiritual as you feel comfortable doing.

Once your children are in school and begin attending achievement days and cub scouts, it may be time for them to considering asking a friend to come with them to these activities. These activities are a great opportunity to introduce their friends and the parents of their friends to the church and its various programs. These activities cover a wide variety of topics, and may seem less threatening than inviting friends to church.

Another great time to invite friends and family to church is for the baptism of your child. Many other denominations have and respect baptisms or a similar tradition of taking on more accountability in your life. This is a time to celebrate, and many friends of your children and friends of the family will feel comfortable attending this activity, since it shows support to your child.

Additionally you may consider inviting friends and neighbors to attend the Primary quarterly activities with you. These activities are structured to include all children, and the leaders can easily accommodate the extra children that attend. This may open doors to more involvement in the future.

Finally encourage you children to invite friends to attend Primary with them on Sundays. This can be a great way to introduce a whole family to the gospel. It can also build friendship and help to clear up common misconceptions about the church. It can also be a way to build friendships.
