Productive Sunday

I pride myself on being organized. I am not a hoarder, I don’t keep things that aren’t useful or beautiful. So how did I end up with a family room packed full of stuff to have a yard sale with?

I woke up super motivated this morning. By ten a.m. I had cleaned the upstairs of my house, mowed the front yard and shaved the dog. I was on a roll.

As I was cleaning I was collecting things that I no longer need. Just a few things, or so I thought. I found some clothes that I no longer wear when I was cleaning my room. A few tablecloths in the linen closet, some outgrown clothes that Ivy left hear.

I organized that closet I talked about yesterday, pictures to come in a later post. I found coats to give away, shoes and a few games.

Then the living room. The bookshelves were overflowing. I now have a huge stack of books for the yard sale.

My family room is full and I haven’t even started on the kitchen or my craft room. I’m glad I woke up with so much motivation because I had no idea there was so much useless stuff in my house. Well, useless to me anyway.

I already feel lighter. My house feels roomier and brighter. Sitting here looking around I already see things that need to go, like this monstrosity of a computer desk. It was given to me and I thought it was perfect. It’s the size of a semi truck and it needs to go.

It’s amazing how much stuff we store, move from room to room and clean around that we really don’t need. Doing the whole house in one day is a big job but if you just start on one room you will be amazed at what you can get rid of.

My advice is to take it directly to the thrift store and donate it. It’s going to be hard for me to have all this stuff in my family room until I have the yard sale but it will only be for two weeks and that will give me time to get everything priced and organized.
