Putting it Together: Blogging Tips, Part 3

Baker’s Dozen of Blogging Tips, part 3

Remove the Navigation Bar: The navbar on your blogger blog looks unprofessional. If you want to give a more polished impression remove it.

Guest Posts: Guest posting on blogs is a great way to bring more exposure to your own blog. Accepting guest posts will do the same as that blogger will bring her traffic to you. It is also a great way to get to know and form friendships with other bloggers.

Facebook Page: If you do not have a Facebook page for your blog then create one. I read that 1 in 12 people in the world have a Facebook account. Your blog will gain much more exposure through Facebook. You can form friendships with other bloggers, your sponsors and readers all in one convenient place. A page is another way to keep your blog in the forefront of your readers’ minds since more check Facebook then RSS or their blog’s dashboard.

Content is King: You can do it all but if your content is poor your blog will be stagnant. Your content needs to engage your readers. Readers should walk away feeling convicted, empowered, or offended and firey if you are that type of blogger. You should present each post as a gift to your reader. Tutorials, resources, news, and encouragement make great posts.

Titles and First Lines Matter: The title is your first impression and the first line to your post is your hook. Get both right and readers will fall in love.

Find a Niche: Find who you want to be on the net. It is fine to talk about a variety of issues but all need to be anchored by your niche. Fining a niche will gain you true readership. Your niche needs to be something you know a lot about or you are passionate about. For instance, I am a Christian homeschooling mom. My blog is anchored by homeschooling as I write on curriculum, lessons, crafts, faith and family.
