You know the saying that time is money? Well, here is another way to apply that old bit of advice. Putting things off and not doing them in time can cost you money. Here are just a few examples.
Not paying bills on time can lead to all sorts of late fees. Pay credits cards late, and it could lead to an increase in your interest rate! Ouch.
Putting off winter preparation in your home can mean higher energy bills. Not caulking and insulating will raise the amount of heating that you will need to provide, and that costs money.
Taking the time to replace your existing light bulbs with new energy efficient ones will also save you money.
Making repairs in a timely manner can mean big savings, whether we are talking about a leak in a roof that could lead to expensive water damage, or a cavity that could lead to an expensive (and painful) root canal. Take care of needed things as they happen. The more you keep on top of repairs and replacements, the less money you will waste.
There are always areas of our homes or lives that we just don’t want to deal with; places where procrastination hits us the hardest. Chances are that these are the areas where putting things off can hurt us the most. For example, putting off having a budget can really harm us financially. Not getting to clutter can mean that we are paying extra money for storage or for unlivable space in our homes.
The trick is to try to identify why we are putting things off. Maybe the budget is too intimidating or we are worried about what we might find. Identifying and facing those issues may help get those areas back under control and help us take charge.
