Remembering the True Meaning of Easter

It is important to remember the reasons that we truly celebrate Easter. We celebrate Easter to remember the Atonement, the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ. Christ’s willingness to sacrifice Himself and take upon Him the sins of the world gives us each the opportunity to return to live with him some day. Throughout the year it is too easy to become so wrapped up in the little things going on in your life, that you lose sight of the importance of this gift.

I am grateful for the Atonement and the comfort it has brought me in my life. The Atonement gives us the opportunity and ability to repent of our sins, but it also provides us comfort during times of trial. It is important to realize that Christ truly does understand our suffering and our trials. We do not walk alone; He is there watching out for us and helping us. When I have struggled the very most I have always been able to see His hand in my life.

I am also grateful for the Resurrection. It is wonderful to think of the day when we will be resurrected to live by our Heavenly Father’s side. This is a wonderful gift. It brings me peace when I think of the loved ones who have already passed away. It gives me hope as I strive to live a good life here on earth. I know that through the plan of salvation that we can all have the opportunity to live with our Heavenly Father again.

As I take time to attend church tomorrow, and partake of the Sacrament, my mind and heart will be focused on the greatness of these events. It is important that I take the time in my personal prayers to express my gratitude, not just tomorrow but on a daily basis for these great blessings. Jesus Christ is truly the Savior of the world.
