Rewards Points

I was just thinking about all the things I accumulate reward points for. I get points for buying Pampers products and points for buying Huggies products. I often look at the catalog of products I’m earning points to buy, for lack of a better word. I rarely see anything I want to pay shipping on to have. Although, I do think there’s a Pampers item I want. I guess I’ll just keep collecting points until I have enough for the vacation. I like Pampers diapers, although not the new Dry Max, and Huggies wipes, but don’t go out of my way to buy just for rewards points.

I used to collect Betty Crocker points. At least I think that’s what it was. It was a long time ago. I had a lot of points and I remember really working to collect them. I finally got a catalog and I was so disappointed. The prices of the items were not good at all. If I remember correctly, the points didn’t add any value and items were what I’d pay in a store except they weren’t anything I’d actually buy.

Today I needed to buy something for new Baby E. I was close to Babies R Us so it made sense to go there. I think my decision to shop at Babies R Us had more to do with the fact that I was so close already than my Rewards R Us card. My rewards for shopping at Babies R Us and Toys R Us haven’t been so extraordinary to affect my purchase choice. I had coupons and a store credit to Buy Buy Baby at home so I could have gone there later.

What is the point of points? Are they working better with other customers than they are with me? They must be because companies keep offering them.
