Save on Theme Park Admission

resizecoaster

Experiencing the thrills and chills of a major theme park isn’t cheap.  In fact, paying for a family of four to visit kid-friendly vacation destinations like Six Flags Great America or Universal Studios can really put a dent in your bank account.  Still, taking a spin on the latest and greatest amusement park rides is what makes summer so memorable.

If you are an adrenaline junkie, but are short on cash, consider the following money-saving tips that will allow you to get your theme park fix this summer without going bankrupt:

SIX FLAGS

Coke Cans:  Coke can discounts are a simple way to save big on Six Flags’ admission tickets.  Simply look for specially marked cans that offer $20 off a one-day general admission pass.  That’s a huge savings, especially if you are a regular Coke drinker.  To score the discounted price, bring an empty Coke can to the amusement park’s main gate.  In addition, you can use the promo code: “COKE” if you are purchasing your ticket online.

Stores:  Many local merchants located near Six Flags locations offer tickets and passes at drastically reduced rates.  For example, Jewel-Osco grocery stores near Six Flags Great America just north of Chicago offer deals that knock $15 to $20 off one-day admission tickets and up to $25 off season passes.  In addition, Kroger stores located in the southeast U.S. sell discounted Six Flags season passes to both Six Flags parks in Georgia.

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD

Website:  The popular California theme park features several admission deals on its official website.  Currently, you can snag a two-day pass for just $89.  This is a major steal given that regular one-day admission for the 2013 season is $80 for adults.

Stores:  This summer Premium Outlets is offering stupendous savings on admission to Universal Studios, including a three-day pass for $69.  Get details on the deal at Premium Outlets’ website.

AAA:  Members of the automotive club receive $3 off admission for up to 6 people and 10% off food and merchandise purchased at Universal Studios.  All you need to do to get the discount is show a valid AAA card at the admission gate or at restaurants or stores throughout the park.  You can save even more on admission if you purchase your tickets at a local AAA office instead of at the park.
